Chapter 3 Owning a Vehicle
Owning a Car
You must have your vehicle registered in order to drive it on public roads and highway.
The registration allow you to drive the vehicle.
The title certificate proves who owns the vehicle.
Registering Vehicle
You must:
- Prove that you own the vehicle
- The vehicle is insured
- The state and county sales taxes has been paid
If you bought the vehicle from registered dealer then proof of ownership is the Manufacturer's Certificate of Origin and dealer's Certificate of Sale.
For used vehicle, the proof of ownership is the previous owner's Certificate of Title, the correct odometer and salvage disclosure statement, and the dealer's Certificate of Sale.
Renewal
Registration is renewed every 2 years.
